Power Plant Operator

About the role

Indeck Energy Services is seeking an individual with combined cycle power plant experience to join their team. This position involves working with boilers, high-pressure steam, gas, and steam turbines.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (minimum requirement)
• Valid Drivers License
• Power plant experience is a plus
• Must be able to work in the United States without employer support or sponsorship

Duties

• Inspect, adjust, and control all power production auxiliary and facility equipment to ensure safe, legal, continuous, and efficient operation
• Knowledge of gas and steam turbines is required
• Communicate effectively and accurately using both oral and written methods of communication
• Make repairs, where qualified, and assist others in making repairs to all equipment
• Perform assigned tasks in analyzing and controlling treated water
• Take necessary action to maintain systems within prescribed limits
• Perform cleaning duties as assigned or required
• Take actions necessary to prevent any environmental excursions
• Continually check all phases of the operation for difficulties or irregularities, troubleshooting as necessary
• Maintain journals, logs, maintenance and equipment records, and various reports
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
• Assignments may include maintenance at other Indeck facilities

Physical Environment

• Standing, walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working from elevations, heavy lifting, and the use of tools
• Working with high-pressure and hot steam and water lines, chemicals, and chemical equipment
• Working in cramped or awkward positions at times
• May be required to work outside in inclement weather conditions
• Exposed to noise and a hot work environment
• Work in a confined space when necessary

Nature of Work

• Full Time, Regular
• Normal Work Days: Varies
• Normal Work Shifts: Rotating
• Overtime work might be required

Availability

• Constant attentiveness and awareness required
• Extreme pressure may exist in the event of an equipment failure

Salary Range

$70k-$75k / depending on experience
