About the role
Facilities Management at JMU is currently accepting applications for a Power Plant Mechanical Supervisor. This position will safely and efficiently supervise and maintain all aspects of steam generation and distribution services throughout the University.
Responsibilities
- Providing skilled and effective supervision of personnel and operations
- Maintenance repair, inspection and rebuilding of steam generating and chill water production systems
- Operate all aspects of repair and maintenance procedures to power plant equipment; boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, valves, controls, steam traps, 3 phase electric motors and steam distribution systems
- Supervise, train and teach employees proper procedures, repair techniques and safety issues
- Troubleshooting problem areas and inspecting for defective equipment/faulty components
Requirements
- Skilled use of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment and mechanical abilities
- Ability to maintain and repair power plant and related equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of mechanical problems
- Accurately interpret blueprints, sketches, work orders, specifications and determine project requirements
- Read and interpret gauges, recorders and monitoring equipment
- Possess proficient computer skills and be familiar with DEQ permitting regulations
- Successful supervisory skills
- In depth knowledge of applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures
- Able to perform complex record keeping tasks
Qualifications

- Valid Driver's License

Pay
Pay Range: $64,000 - $69,000
