Power Plant Mechanic Assistant

About the role

This classification performs skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of equipment in reciprocating engines, gas turbine, landfill gas equipment and accessories.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to all employees, customers, vendors and other City departments.
• Model and practice the highest standards of ethical conduct.
• Develop necessary skills from on-the-job training and meet standards of performance for the classification by the end of the probationary period.
• Operate or use all position-related software, equipment and tools effectively and safely.
• Participate in maintaining a secure computing environment by adhering to and implementing City cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Work independently and/or in a team setting.
• Comply with the National Standards Institute's requirements on practices for respiratory protection and hearing loss.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience performing semi-skilled mechanical repair and maintenance work, including some experience in the maintenance and operation, or repair of turbines, reciprocating engines, and auxiliaries.
• Valid Class C California driver's license.
