About the role
HDR is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Power Generation team. This isn't just a job, it's a chance to drive infrastructure forward, power innovation and leave your mark on our energy future.
Responsibilities
- Design and specification of power generation fluid systems including steam, condensate, fuel gas, cooling water, compressed air, and similar systems
- Collaborative work with engineers and designers from several other disciplines
- Engineer/equipment vendor submittal reviews, vendor/contractor communications
- Technical writing (reports, procurement specifications, etc.)
- Code reviews
- Site visits
- Project planning
- Working within an assigned budget and schedule
- Mentoring of less experienced engineers
- Directing a small team of engineers and designers
- Coordinating work with others
- Communicating effectively and leading teams
- Travel for site surveys, technical conferences, client meetings and monitoring of construction
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Professional Engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered
- Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software
Qualifications
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- 5+ years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and field projects
- P.E. license in Texas or ability to obtain reciprocity

Pay
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This position is full-time and requires travel for site surveys, technical conferences, client meetings and monitoring of construction. Travel is typically less than 10%.
