Power Markets Origination Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead origination activity in U.S. and Canadian markets, including opportunity identification, customer engagement, and development of commercial transactions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with wholesale energy market participants, C&I customers, consultants, and other counterparties.
  • Act as the primary commercial contact for PPA counterparties, coordinating internally with Operations, Legal, Risk, Trading, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop physical and financial offtake opportunities, including energy, capacity, RECs, hedge products, structured products, and other commercial arrangements.
  • Identify non-traditional offtake opportunities, behind-the-meter structures, co-location opportunities, and other commercial solutions that may reduce risk or improve asset value.
  • Lead RFP, tender, and bilateral commercial processes, including bid strategy, internal approvals, submission, and timeline management.
  • Career Development: Support market intelligence efforts, including pricing benchmarks, comparable deal terms, and market conditions.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives related to new products, market expansion, and portfolio optimization.

Qualifications

  • Required Skills and Competencies:
    • 7–10 years of experience in power origination, power marketing, structured energy products, or related commercial energy roles.
    • Proven track record of originating, structuring, negotiating, and executing energy transactions (e.g., PPAs, hedges, structured deals).
    • Strong understanding of wholesale power markets, renewable energy, capacity markets, RECs, and hedging products.
    • Ability to assess, quantify, and communicate commercial and transactional risk clearly.
    • Ability to interpret market dynamics and translate them into actionable commercial strategies.
    • Familiarity with storage, co-location, congestion risk, REC markets, and C&I structures is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Energy, or related field (or equivalent experience); advanced degree a plus.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Pay & Benefits

  • Base Pay: $165,000 - $185,000
  • Annual Performance Bonus: 15%
