Key Responsibilities
- Lead origination activity in U.S. and Canadian markets, including opportunity identification, customer engagement, and development of commercial transactions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with wholesale energy market participants, C&I customers, consultants, and other counterparties.
- Act as the primary commercial contact for PPA counterparties, coordinating internally with Operations, Legal, Risk, Trading, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and develop physical and financial offtake opportunities, including energy, capacity, RECs, hedge products, structured products, and other commercial arrangements.
- Identify non-traditional offtake opportunities, behind-the-meter structures, co-location opportunities, and other commercial solutions that may reduce risk or improve asset value.
- Lead RFP, tender, and bilateral commercial processes, including bid strategy, internal approvals, submission, and timeline management.
- Career Development: Support market intelligence efforts, including pricing benchmarks, comparable deal terms, and market conditions.
- Support cross-functional initiatives related to new products, market expansion, and portfolio optimization.
Qualifications
- Required Skills and Competencies:
- 7–10 years of experience in power origination, power marketing, structured energy products, or related commercial energy roles.
- Proven track record of originating, structuring, negotiating, and executing energy transactions (e.g., PPAs, hedges, structured deals).
- Strong understanding of wholesale power markets, renewable energy, capacity markets, RECs, and hedging products.
- Ability to assess, quantify, and communicate commercial and transactional risk clearly.
- Ability to interpret market dynamics and translate them into actionable commercial strategies.
- Familiarity with storage, co-location, congestion risk, REC markets, and C&I structures is a plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Energy, or related field (or equivalent experience); advanced degree a plus.
- Skills: Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Pay & Benefits
- Base Pay: $165,000 - $185,000
- Annual Performance Bonus: 15%
