Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment.
  • Additionally, this position is responsible for technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects.

Qualifications

  • Level II Technician requires three years of field experience servicing generator systems with some experience on 500kw+, proficient.
  • Level III Technician requires six years of field experience servicing generator systems with extensive experience on 500KW+, proficient with preventative maintenance, paralleling switch gear, ATS repairs, controller retrofits and Loadbanking equipment.
  • Level IV Technician requires ten years of field experience servicing generator systems of all sizes and applications, expert in preventative maintenance, paralleling switch gear, retrofitting advanced controls and Loadbanking equipment.
  • Ability of performing triennial maintenance, engine diagnostics, fuel system priming and replacing failed engine components.
  • All Candidates need a High School diploma or GED equivalent, related military experience or equivalent field experience.
  • Expert in major engine repairs, able to diagnose a wide variety on various applications. Experienced with Volvo and PSI engines.
  • Operational and functional understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems, able to troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction.
  • Expert troubleshooting skills, no return call outs for work performed. Can be dispatched to any call with help from our Product Support team.
  • Expert at reading or dissecting schematics and wiring diagrams to diagnose most electrical issues. Well versed with Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment in an advanced electric controls environment.
  • Able to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals and policies and procedures.
  • Must observe all safety standards.
  • Mentor Mid to High level techs as requested.

  • Computer fluent, with specific attention to ERP systems, email and Microsoft Office products.
  • Maintain professional appearance on the job.
  • Proven reasoning abilities and sound judgment.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to express commitment to PSS, its customers, and its employees.
  • Process oriented, with demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Delivering on-time results to support PSS’s business goals.
  • Teamwork oriented with collaborative style.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Physical Demands

  • Daily travel with independent work structure.
  • Provide 24x7 “on-call” services as required unless on PTO or Off Call.
  • Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments.
  • Battery installations and replacements.
  • Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled.
  • Customer contact and interface.
  • Communicate availability status to corporate office.
  • Protect company proprietary information, manuals, and records.
  • Use of electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary.
  • Care for and manage all on-site subcontractors hired by PSS as necessary.
  • Maintain company vehicle in safe and operational condition.
  • Ensure that work is performed to PSS standards.
  • Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately.
  • Provide technical support to customers upon request.
  • Maintain Technical documentation for study and/or review.
  • Willing and able to attend training as company deems necessary.
  • Own and maintain personal set of mechanical tools.
  • Cross train in other areas as needed.

Work Environment

  • Work is 85%+ in an outdoor environment in all types of weather.
  • The environment is varied since the performance of the essential duties is at customer sites.
  • Must be willing to travel out of market/state up to 25% of the time.
  • Requires exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as temperature and noise extremes, vibrations, machinery, hazardous materials, confined spaces, traffic hazards, and various chemicals.
