About the role

We are seeking a highly-motivated mid-to-senior level licensed Professional Engineer to join our team of multi-disciplinary consultants. The role focuses on forensic engineering for property damage losses involving power generation and distribution systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cause and origin analysis of equipment and system failures.
  • Assess flood, wind, freeze, fire, earthquake, and explosion-related damage.
  • Conduct equipment and systems damage assessments.
  • Determine remediation protocols and provide repair versus replacement determinations.
  • Fieldwork to document as-built conditions and damage to mechanical systems from natural (wind, water, fire, earth movement, etc.) and/or human-induced origins (design, construction errors/omissions, and product defects).
  • Utilize building codes, technical knowledge of equipment and systems, and understanding of construction practices to establish repair scope recommendations and cause and origin analyses.
  • Evaluate design drawings and documentation.
  • Communicate with clients, interface with code officials and contractors, and provide detailed reports.
  • Manage multiple project assignments, executing them on time and within budget.
  • Retain and develop client relationships.
  • Travel as needed, sometimes on short notice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Minimum 10 years of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer through NCEES examination; multiple state registrations (or ability to obtain) a plus.
  • Knowledge of national building and construction codes (ICC, etc.).
  • Knowledge of multiple types of construction is a plus.
  • Knowledge of estimating mechanical equipment designs and installations is a plus.
  • Field experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in providing litigation support, including expert testimony at depositions and/or trial, mediation, and arbitration proceedings, is desirable.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and a good driving record.

Skills

  • Experience with hydro, solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, battery energy storage systems (BESS), nuclear, and traditional hydrocarbon power generation and distribution equipment.

Pay

$100,000 – $170,000 per year.
