About the role

The Power Conversion Electrical Engineer IV is a senior contributor who works highly independently, providing engineering design and analysis services for DC/DC power converters and filters for space and high-reliability applications. Responsibilities include technical proposals, requirements management, detailed architecture of topology and control, circuit design and analyses (including radiation-hardened/tolerant circuitry), product performance, customer presentations, and cost/schedule management. This role may lead a team of engineers on assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Model and simulate circuit or system performance of DC-DC power converters and filters using analytical tools.
  • Detailed design and analysis of discrete implementation of power converter control circuitry resistant to radiation effects.
  • Filter modeling, analysis, and design.
  • System integration, test, and development of DC power conversion hardware for spaceflight and high-reliability applications.
  • Investigate and evaluate new power topologies and control for spaceflight applications.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet electrical, environmental, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers in areas of expertise.
  • Support internal concurrent design criteria and act as the technical interface for customers.
  • Translate market specifications into design requirements and generate design documentation for prototype/production releases.
  • Provide input to test procedures, fixtures, and software development.
  • Document new designs, including simulations, test circuit measurements, and tolerance analyses.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with microelectronic DC-DC power conversion and control system design, including knowledge of radiation effects on components and circuits.
  • Experience with high-reliability hardware design from conceptual design through product delivery.
  • Proficiency with analog modeling tools (e.g., Symetrix, Simplis, Ansys Maxwell, Mathcad, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of complex DC-DC power topologies and control circuitries, discrete analog circuit design, and power electronics technology (e.g., temperature-compensating analog circuits, radiation-tolerant components, magnetic design, planar magnetics).
  • Excellent documentation, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to write procedures, reports, and acceptance tests.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects through the complete development cycle.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor others.
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's or PhD preferred.

This position may require access to controlled data or information; only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Working Conditions

  • Standard office environment with substantial visual concentration on detail.
  • Normal manufacturing environment conditions, including potential exposure to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust, or fumes.
  • Use of safety equipment (e.g., eye protection, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps).
  • Approximate physical demands: 10% standing, 90% sitting, lifting/pushing up to 10 pounds.

Benefits

  • Health care, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance starting the first day of the month.
  • 15 days of paid time off (accruing from first day) and 12 paid holidays per year.
  • 401k retirement plan with company match.
  • Education reimbursement eligible after 6 months of employment.

Pay

Salary range: $166,067.99 – $194,682.84. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience, skills, training, and qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for performance-based bonus programs.
