Daikin Applied Americas is seeking a Power and Electronics Technician to support our Research & Development Laboratory. This role is responsible for electrical testing, troubleshooting, instrumentation, controls support, and laboratory infrastructure improvements across a wide range of HVAC product development programs. Location: Plymouth, MN 1st Shift - 6am - 2:30pm (Monday - Friday) What You Will Do Troubleshoot, install, and configure power analyzers and electrical test equipmentDevelop and audit Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for test units and laboratory test facilitiesPerform electrical troubleshooting on test units, test systems, and facility equipmentExecute DAQ (Data Acquisition) system wiring, electrical panel modifications, and related electrical workInstall current transformers (CTs) and supporting instrumentation within test unitsRewire test units, control panels, and associated electrical systems as requiredCreate, modify, and maintain electrical schematics for laboratory equipment and test facilitiesIdentify and recommend improvements to laboratory infrastructure, test setups, and processes to improve efficiency and reliabilityAssist in the design and development of in-house electrical test systems, controls architecture, and experimental test setupsExpand laboratory testing capabilities and provide support for UL compliance testing across multiple product linesSupport and execute Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) programming and configuration activitiesAssist with PLC troubleshooting, diagnostics, and programmingPerform electrical repairs and corrective maintenance on laboratory equipment and test systemsCollaborate with engineers, technicians, and laboratory staff to support development, validation, and compliance testing activities What’s in it for you: Medical/Dental/Vision coverage, PTO, 401K match, support for community involvement and much moreThe ability to make an impact and shape your career with a company that is passionate about growthThe support of an organization that believes it is vital to include and engage diverse people, perspectives, and ideas to achieve our best Minimum Qualifications Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Industrial Controls, or a related field Strong understanding of electrical power systems, industrial controls, and instrumentationExperience reading and modifying electrical schematics and wiring diagramsFamiliarity with data acquisition systems, power analyzers, and electrical test equipmentWorking knowledge of VFDs, PLCs, and industrial control systemsExperience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety practicesStrong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skillsAbility to work independently while supporting cross-functional engineering teams Preferred Qualifications Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, testing, or R&D environmentUL testing or product certification experienceKnowledge of HVAC equipment and controlsAutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software experienceHands-on experience with control panel assembly and modificationProgramming experience with common PLC platforms Your Benefits Daikin Applied offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: Multiple medical insurance plan options + dental and vision insurance 401K retirement plan with employer contributions matching 100% of the first 3% of employee contributions and 50% on the next 2% of employee contributionsCompany provided life insurance + optional employee paid voluntary life insurance, dependent life coverage and voluntary accident coverageShort-term and long-term disability3 weeks of paid time off for new employees + 11 company-paid holidaysVacation accrues on a monthly basis, unless applicable federal, state, and local law requires a faster accrualPaid sick time in accordance of the federal, state and local lawPaid parental leave and tuition reimbursement after 6 months of continuous service The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
