Powder Coating - 1st Shift
Position Overview
GTI Energy is seeking a Coating Technician to support manufacturing operations by preparing surfaces and applying protective coatings to fabricated components and modular systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring finished products meet quality, durability, and appearance standards prior to final assembly and shipment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare surfaces for coating by cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, or applying primers as required.
Apply coatings using spray guns, brushes, rollers, or other approved application methods.
Ensure proper coating thickness, finish quality, and adherence to specifications.
Conduct quality inspections to identify coating defects, inconsistencies, or touch-up requirements.
Maintain coating equipment, spray systems, and work areas in clean and safe operating condition.
Follow all OSHA, PPE, ventilation, and hazardous material handling procedures.
Monitor and adjust coating processes to improve efficiency and product quality.
Collaborate with production teams to resolve coating or finishing issues during manufacturing.
Assist with material handling, staging, and movement of coated parts as needed.
Maintain accurate production and quality documentation when required.
Requirements
Minimum of 1 year of industrial coating or paint application experience.
Experience working in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment.
Basic understanding of coating materials, surface preparation, and application techniques.
Ability to operate coating and spray application equipment safely and effectively.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and hazardous material handling practices.
Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work in a physically active manufacturing environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in coating application or related trade field.
Experience with automated or industrial coating systems.
Familiarity with powder coating, industrial paint systems, or protective finishes.
Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
