About the Location

The High Point, North Carolina facility is a non-union manufacturing plant with approximately 55 employees, specializing in producing polyurethane foam and other foam products. The site emphasizes quality, safety, and operational excellence in a collaborative and supportive environment.

About the Role

The Pour Line Chemical Handler operates and monitors equipment that mixes and pours chemical components to produce foam products such as polyurethane foam blocks, cushions, insulation panels, or molded parts. This role ensures product quality, consistency, and safety throughout the production process. The position requires handling multiple tasks, prioritizing workloads, and adhering to safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Be a self-starter and team player, following direction from Leads and/or Managers regarding material types and quantities for production.
• Coordinate with the Pour Line Lead and/or Manager to implement directives for foam production.
• Clean and maintain designated work areas, adhering to 5S and all safety policies and procedures.
• Make sound decisions, adapt to changing needs, and resolve problems.
• Communicate professionally with employees, managers, customers, vendors, and other departments.
• Set up film and prepare the pour tunnel for each scheduled pour.
• Perform visual inspections during pours, monitor gauges and pumps, and run pour-skis to establish correct bun height.
• Assist with visual inspections and report defects during the pouring process.
• Accurately measure and document foam products, safely use the cut-off saw, and manually pull foam blocks off the conveyor.
• Maneuver foam material using industrial-powered trucks and/or roll carts.
• Maintain a clean and safe pour head and line.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and transferring chemicals from rail cars, tankers, totes, and drums to holding tanks.
• Observe pressure gauges, flow meters, adjust valves, and regulate pump speed, pressure, and flow rate.
• Maintain pumps and lines by replacing filters, gaskets, tightening connections, and adjusting pumps.
• Collect samples of material for lab analysis and record beginning and ending inventory levels.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• Basic mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Ability to understand mixing ratios and follow production formulas.
• Attention to detail and strong quality awareness.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift materials as required.
• Knowledge of chemical handling and PPE requirements.
• Must be comfortable working around machinery and chemicals.
• Must pass annual respirator fit testing.
