About the role
This role plays a critical part in the overall success of the farm operations within the vaccination crew. The crew's primary responsibilities include animal care and welfare of the birds.
Responsibilities
- Work with day-old chicks
- Required to collect birds for moving, weighing, and vaccinations
- Must be able to work with live animals and the associated environment
- Collect blood samples, band/tag, or remove tags from birds
- Follow Animal Care Standards, Animal Welfare Guidelines, and Bio-Security policies and procedures
- Able to work with chemicals such as detergents, disinfectants, etc.
- Perform essential duties in a safe and efficient manner as trained
- Able to be around farm-related smells or odors and loud/noisy environment
- May work up to 6 days a week, including weekends and holidays
Qualifications
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions and perform simple tasks
- Ability to perform work that is repetitive in nature
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to grip, grasp, or twist using hands and wrist
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50lbs
- Bend and stoop throughout the shift
- Animal husbandry experience preferred but not required
