Postdoctoral Scholar - Poudel Group - Materials Science and Engineering

About the role
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to conduct fundamental research in experimental ceramic and energy conversion materials research. The candidate will work on fabrication and characterization of various functional ceramics and energy conversion materials.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research in energy conversion materials synthesis and device fabrication/testing.
- Perform materials characterization and testbed development.
- Utilize fabrication techniques such as tape casting and additive manufacturing.
- Analyze microstructure via high-resolution microscopies.
- Collaborate with multiple academic and industry team members.
- Participate in the development of project reports and proposals.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or related fields (evidence of completion required before the effective date of hire).
- Hands-on experience in materials design and synthesis.
- Prior research experience in energy conversion materials and peer-reviewed high-impact journal publications.
- Experience with microstructure analysis via high-resolution microscopies.
Qualifications
- Good communication and technical writing skills.
- Experience with various fabrication techniques (e.g., tape casting, additive manufacturing) is preferred.
