Postdoctoral Researcher - Leuthner Lab
Position Summary
The Leuthner Lab at Indiana University (The O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs) seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join an interdisciplinary research program in environmental genomics. The postdoctoral researcher will have flexibility to define their own research agenda, but a successful candidate will be broadly interested in contributing to projects investigating gene-environment interactions, chemical susceptibility, and effects of exposure on evolutionary processes with a focus on emerging contaminants such as PFAS. Research integrates Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) as a model system with approaches including: Quantitative genetics (GWAS/QTL mapping), High-throughput phenotyping, RNA-seq and multi-omics integration, Functional genomics (e.g., RNAi, transgenics).
Research Interests and Fit
The postdoctoral scholar will have opportunities to lead independent projects, mentor undergraduate researchers, and contribute to grant writing and publications.

Expected Start Date

Basic Qualifications
- Ph.D. in biology, toxicology, genomics, genetics, bioinformatics, or a closely related field (completed by start date)
- Experience with molecular biology, genetics, or model organism research
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research (e.g., publications, dissertation work)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with C. elegans or other model organisms
- Experience with high-throughput data analysis (e.g., RNA-seq, GWAS)
- Proficiency in R, Python, or similar computational tools
Salary and Rank
$55,000–$65,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Full benefits included.
