Postdoctoral Researcher
Position Summary
The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Indiana University, Bloomington invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to support an NSF funded project titled “Quantifying tectonic and biologic controls on erosion using detrital thermochronology.” The project investigates how vegetation and tectonics interact to control long-term erosion and sediment flux through geologic time. Responsibilities
- Sample collection (core facility visit)
- Laboratory analyses
- Data interpretation
- Thermal history modeling
- Mentoring students
- Participation in project’s education and outreach initiatives, including engagement with Indiana high school teachers and students focused on the subsurface geology of the Midwest
Qualifications
- A strong candidate should have a background in one or more of the following disciplines: low-temperature thermochronology, stratigraphy, tectonics, basin analysis or a related field.
Salary and Rank
This is a full time position with healthcare benefits. The initial appointment for the position is 1 year, and may be extended to a second year upon successful performance and funding availability. An ideal anticipated start date is between August – December 2026, but can be arranged to suit the candidate.
