Postdoctoral researcher: Democracy and good governance in Africa

About the role

The Nordic Africa Institute is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to join its team of resident researchers. The position is specifically targeted towards a researcher with current residence and professional affiliation in Finland, focusing on the areas of political development, particularly African experiences and prospects of democracy and good governance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct academic and policy-relevant research on African issues related to democracy and good governance.
• Explore state structures, political institutions, and regime changes in Africa.
• Analyze the social, economic, and cultural conditions and consequences of these developments.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in academic and policy-relevant research on African issues.
• Current residence and professional affiliation in Finland.
• PhD in a relevant field such as political science, international relations, or a related discipline.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications

• Excellent analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex information.
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Fluency in English and proficiency in another African language.
