Postdoctoral Research Associate, Ray Laboratory
About the role
The Ray laboratory at the Child Health Research Center, University of Virginia, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to explore molecular physiology and cellular mechanisms that precipitate pediatric renal diseases, focusing on nephrotic syndrome, capillary permeability, and angiogenesis.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute research projects independently
- Characterize new transgenic mouse and rat models using genomic, molecular, physiological, and immunohistochemical approaches
- Assist in grant applications
- Prepare manuscripts
- Contribute to general laboratory maintenance
- Train laboratory personnel
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in a related field
- Previous experience working in a nephrology lab
- Expertise in fly, worm, mice, and rat models
- Proficiency with HIV transgenic mouse and rat models, tissue processing, and immunohistochemistry
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within the last five years
- Full-time involvement in research or scholarship at the University
- Supervised by a senior scholar
- Opportunity to publish research findings during the training period

- Salary based on NIH scale and commensurate with experience

Pay
Salary will be based on the current NIH salary scale and commensurate with the candidate's years of relevant postdoctoral experience.
Schedule
This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding availability.
