About the role
The Choudhury lab at the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at WashU in St. Louis is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate to join our team. The lab focuses on investigating the cellular, molecular, and metabolic mechanisms involved in fibrotic disorders using mouse models and human precision-cut lung slices.
Responsibilities
- Works independently but collaborates closely with the Principal Investigator.
- Designs and performs experiments.
- Keeps appropriate experimental records and documentation.
- Analyzes, interprets, summarizes, and compiles data.
- Operates and maintains relevant animal models.
- Participates in publications and presentations as an author or co-author.
- Develops proficiency in career development skills, including writing, public speaking, networking, and critical evaluation of scientific literature.
- Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research.
- Aids in preparation of grant proposals and may apply for mentored training grants with PI support.
- Collaborates collegially with co-trainees, staff members, and members of the research group.
Requirements
- Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree.
- Hands-on experience with mouse work and knockout mouse models.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on research projects designed by a mentor within area of specialization.
- Hands-on experience with flow cytometry and cell sorting, fluorescence and confocal imaging, standard biochemistry, molecular/cell biology techniques, cell culture, flow cytometry, data acquisition and data analysis, gene expression, single cell RNAseq/bioinformatics analysis.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications
- Recent PhD in Biochemistry, Cell or Molecular Biology with background in immunology.
- Hands-on experience with mouse work and knockout mouse models.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on research projects designed by a mentor within area of specialization.
