About the role

The position is available in the Jaebok Choi Lab within the Department of Medicine, Division of Oncology. The lab focuses on transplant immunology, particularly T cells, and seeks a postdoctoral researcher to work on T cell biology in mouse models of diseases such as graft-vs-host disease (GvHD), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop their own research projects leading to first-author publications.
  • Develop expertise in T cell biology, mouse models of GvHD/GvL, IBD, or EAE, CRISPR/Cas9 guide RNA library screening, bioluminescence imaging, intestinal organoids, and multicolor flow cytometry.
  • Enhance career skills including writing, public speaking, networking, and critical evaluation of scientific literature.
  • Present scientific work both internally and externally with excellent communication skills.
  • Aid in grant preparation and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit research papers.
  • Design and assist in the execution of research experiments.
  • Evaluate research findings and report results.
  • Conscientiously fulfill research responsibilities.
  • Maintain adherence to ethical standards and good laboratory practices.
  • Communicate openly and promptly with their mentor regarding laboratory matters.
  • Behave collegially with co-trainees, staff, and research group members.
  • Adhere to all applicable University policies, procedures, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree in relevant fields such as Cell Biology, Immunology, or Molecular Biology.
  • Experience in T cell biology, mouse models of GvHD/GvL, IBD, or EAE, CRISPR/Cas9 guide RNA library screening, bioluminescence imaging, intestinal organoids, and multicolor flow cytometry.
  • Strong collaboration, data analysis, and laboratory operations skills.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily.
  • Physical ability to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals.
