About the role

The Kutluay Laboratory located at WashU Medicine in Saint Louis, MO, is seeking to hire a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher. HIV-1 continues to be a major global health problem without a cure or vaccine in sight. Our laboratory studies fundamental aspects of HIV-1 replication, virus-host interactions and innate immune defenses with particular emphasis on the roles of viral and cellular RNA/DNA-binding proteins. To study these processes, we employ cutting-edge next-generation sequencing-based methodologies, tools of conventional molecular biology, biochemistry and molecular virology. Responsibilities

  • Trains under the supervision of a faculty mentor including (but not limited to): Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
  • Prepares and submits papers on research.
  • Preludes research experiments.
  • Evaluates research findings and assists in the reporting of the results.
  • Conscientious discharge of their research responsibilities.
  • Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research.
  • Maintains compliance with good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records.
  • Engages in open and timely discussion with their mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to their laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications.
  • Collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group.
  • Adherence to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications: Ph.D., M.D. Or Equivalent Terminal Or Doctoral Degree.
  • Preferred Qualifications: More About This Job The ideal applicants will have a PhD or MD/PhD in biological sciences or related fields with less than a year of postdoctoral experience. Experience in nucleic acid biology, molecular virology, molecular biology and/or biochemistry is highly preferred. Candidates with familiarity in programming skills are highly desired. Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
