About the role
The Hillman Lab, within the newly formed Department of Imaging Sciences at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, seeks motivated post-doctoral scientists and engineers interested in the development and application of advanced optical imaging and microscopy methods.
Responsibilities
- Design, construction and application of high-speed 3D microscopy methods including our SCAPE / light-sheet approaches, two-photon, fluorescence lifetime and vibrational imaging methods.
- Data acquisition and analysis to characterize cell-types and connectivity in mammalian brain in health and disease, with extensions to high-content spatial-omics analysis and digital pathology.
- Application of wide-field optical mapping in awake, behaving mice to study brain-behavior-movement and neurovascular relationships in health and disease.
- Contribute to independent ideas while contributing to shared technical and scientific goals, with strong support from the broader imaging and research infrastructure at St. Jude.
Requirements
- Interest and expertise in microscopy development and applications.
- Experience with large-scale and high-throughput imaging and analysis pipelines.
- Strong background in functional brain imaging techniques.
- Ability to contribute to both experimental design and data analysis.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with microscopy and imaging technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Skills
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
- Experience with image processing and analysis software.
- Knowledge of neuroscience and neurobiology.
- Experience with mouse behavior and neuroimaging techniques.
