Postdoctoral Fellow Research - Neuro-Immune Mechanisms

About the role

The postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Pedram Hamrah, in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida. Research focuses on corneal immunology, neuroscience, and intravital imaging, with a focus on neuroimmune crosstalk in the cornea.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Principal Investigator on research projects studying molecular mechanisms involving corneal leukocytes and the peripheral and central nervous system.
• Dissect molecular mechanisms related to neuronal regulation of corneal immune privilege, inflammation, and immune homeostasis.
• Independently develop protocols and establish new methodologies in the laboratory.
• Write and present new discoveries.
• Other responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree from an accredited institution and relevant experience and training in immunology and/or neurosciences and molecular and cellular biology.
• Experience with cell culture, immunological assays, electrophysiology, and contemporary imaging techniques.
• A strong publication record is recommended.
