Postdoctoral Fellow - Neuroscience

Responsibilities

  • Affirms in designing, developing, executing, and implementing scientific research and/or development.
  • Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential inventions and products.
  • Performs specialized laboratory research utilizing experimental protocols which involves specialized procedures.
  • Collates and handles samples and keeps detailed records of experiments.
  • Aids in the preparation of data for presentations at scientific meetings and for publication in journals.
  • Might perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Neuroscience or a related scientific field is required.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years of experience required.
  • The candidate should have a strong background in neuroscience and neurodegeneration and interest in traumatic brain injury in support of funded projects at the DoW/USU Brain Tissue Repository.
  • Ability to design experiments, analyze and interpret data, and write up results.
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry and quantitative analysis.
  • Experience with bright field and confocal microscopy is required.
  • Experience in electron microscopy is appreciated.
  • Statistical analysis using R and/or GraphPad Prism.
  • Experience in QuPath, Python and/or MATLAB and overall coding experience is preferred for quantitative analyses.
  • Knowledge of appropriate scientific area; ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background investigation.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $52,800 - $60,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
