About the role
Our laboratory focuses on exploring and evaluating the complexity of molecular signaling crosstalk between cells in the kidney. We seek a highly motivated and exceptionally creative candidate to lead a cutting-edge research project that aims to examine molecular mechanisms in the glomerulus that result in diabetic and non-diabetic kidney disease progression.
Responsibilities
- Design, set-up and run cell biological projects.
- Experience with protein chemistry, purification, and characterization.
- Meticulous data documentation and organizational skills.
- Experience giving presentations of research findings to other members of the scientific community.
- Fluency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, R, and Matlab.
- Experience documenting, organizing, and tracking multiple ongoing projects.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Organized and diligent with time management and deadlines.
- Creative in proposing new methods, techniques or approaches.
Qualifications
- Hold a Ph.D. or MD.
- Experience required in cell culture and mice handling.
- First author publication in international peer-reviewed journals.
- Self-driven, enthusiastic, and committed to making a significant impact.
- Experience with gene editing is highly desired.
Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project
- Examine molecular mechanisms in the glomerulus that result in diabetic and non-diabetic kidney disease progression.
- Explore key functional mechanisms of glomerular cell function.
- Validate the complex relationship between glomerular endothelial cells and podocytes.
- Examine genetic susceptibility to developing progressive kidney disease.
- Apply gene editing tools for potential curative therapies.
Pay
The salary range for the role is $72,500 – $80,000 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The listed range does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
