About the role

Join a small, collaborative peptide design team working at the interface of computation and experiment in the Keating Lab. As the experimental lead on a peptide design campaign, you will drive the synthesis and testing of designed peptides, evaluate early hits with independently developed and run assays, and report findings through presentations, publications, and patents. Your work will directly inform peptide optimization and help refine the design methodology.

The Keating Lab offers a collaborative and stimulating research environment with strong connections between wet and dry lab, integrating computational biologists developing new methods at the interface of structural biology and machine learning with experimentalists studying protein recognition across diverse biological systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the experimental lead on a peptide design campaign.
  • Drive the synthesis and testing of designed peptides.
  • Develop and run assays to evaluate early hits independently.
  • Report findings to colleagues and collaborators through presentations, publications, and patents.
  • Contribute to peptide optimization and refinement of the design methodology.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology, Chemical Biology, or a related field.
  • Record of original scholarship (e.g., peer-reviewed publications, preprints, patents).
  • Proven expertise and success in executing and interpreting in vitro biophysical assays (SPR, BLI, ITC, fluorescence polarization, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of binding kinetics, thermodynamics, and macromolecular structure.
  • Ability to drive research independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Fluency in English for scientific communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with peptides.
  • Experience with peptide modification and unnatural amino acids.
  • Protein or peptide design experience.
