Postdoctoral Associate - Chen Lab
About the role
The Chen Lab at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, Harvard University seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to develop and apply new technologies for understanding cellular states, tissue organization, and disease mechanisms in vivo. Our lab builds experimental and computational platforms to measure and perturb biology across space and time. Current areas of interest include spatial genomics, temporal recording of cell states, in vivo functional genomics, protein localization and delivery, tumor microenvironments, tissue regeneration, somatic variation, and AI-enabled models of cell and tissue biology.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead independent research projects aligned with the lab’s broader mission.
- Develop and optimize experimental or computational methods.
- Analyze and interpret data.
- Prepare manuscripts and presentations.
- Collaborate with other lab members and external partners.
- Contribute to a supportive and intellectually engaged lab environment.
Requirements
- Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree in a relevant field with 0-2 + years of experience in an academic setting.
- Strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Qualifications
- Prior experience with single-cell or spatial genomics, high-throughput screening, animal models, imaging, protein engineering, sequencing technologies, or computational analysis is helpful but not required.
- Creativity, scientific independence, rigor, and enthusiasm for developing new approaches to biological problems.
Skills
- Experience with single-cell or spatial genomics, high-throughput screening, animal models, imaging, protein engineering, sequencing technologies, or computational analysis.
Benefits
The Broad Institute offers a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending and health savings accounts; at least 13 paid holidays; winter closure; paid time off; parental and family care leave; and an employee assistance program, among other Broad benefits.
