About the role
The Morris lab at Virginia Tech seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to utilize laser spectroscopy, particularly femto- and nano-second transient absorption spectroscopy and nanosecond transient infrared spectroscopy, to study light-matter interactions in metal organic framework materials.
Responsibilities
- Develop and synthesize metal organic framework materials
- Prepare spectroscopic samples for various characterization techniques
- Conduct and analyze data using fluorescence spectroscopy, time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopy (ATR-IR), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), and surface area analysis
- Collaborate with the research team and contribute to the interpretation of experimental results
Requirements
- Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field, awarded within the last four years
- Strong work habits and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Publication record demonstrating scientific contributions
- Experience presenting at conferences
