The Azevedo Laboratory in the Integrative Physiology Department at CU Boulder is seeking a PostDoctoral Associate. About the Role

The Azevedo Laboratory investigates the neural and molecular mechanisms through which the brain regulates feeding, metabolism, and motivated behavior. Current projects focus on neural circuits involved in stress-induced metabolic dysfunction, obesity, Prader-Willi syndrome, and other disorders affecting feeding and energy balance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research examining neural and molecular mechanisms that regulate feeding behavior, stress responses, and metabolic function.
• Design and conduct experiments using mouse models, behavioral neuroscience, molecular and genetic approaches, neural-circuit manipulation and recording techniques, and quantitative data analysis.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, maintain detailed experimental records, contribute to manuscript and grant preparation, present research findings at laboratory meetings and scientific conferences, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students and other laboratory personnel.
• Develop independent research questions and pursue fellowship and career-development funding.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in neuroscience, physiology, biology, biomedical sciences, or a related field by the anticipated start date.
• Previous experience conducting independent biomedical or neuroscience research.
• Experience designing experiments, analyzing quantitative data, and interpreting scientific results.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate scientific findings through manuscripts, presentations, or other scholarly work.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to experimental rigor, reproducibility, and research documentation.

• Annual salary of $69,500.
• A relocation/moving incentive up to $5000 may be available for the selected candidate, subject to University of Colorado Boulder policies and approval.
