Postdoctoral Associate
About the role
Execute theoretical and computational research focused on multiphase flows involving complex fluids that interact with gases, other fluids, or solids. Examine how these systems respond to perturbations in material properties and environmental conditions.
Conduct research within the group’s broader research program, mentor graduate students, and collaborate with researchers in related fields. Develop, implement, and maintain scientific software. Participate in the preparation of manuscripts for publication and presentations at scientific conferences. Assist in organizing group and department-wide collaborative activities, including meetings, seminars, and workshops. Share expertise and provide training and guidance to group members and visitors as needed.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related disciplines
- Demonstrated ability in mathematical modeling, scientific computation, scientific software and algorithm development, and data analysis
- Demonstrated ability to conduct original, high-quality research in computational fluid dynamics and/or computational mechanics
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: non-Newtonian fluid mechanics, interfacial flows, fluid-structure interactions, and constitutive modeling of complex fluids or active matter
- Ability to work well in an interdisciplinary environment and collaborate with experimentalists
- Strong oral and written communication, data documentation, and presentation skills
Schedule
This is a one-year appointment that can be renewed, contingent on performance. The anticipated start date is September 2026, or a later date to be mutually agreed upon.
