About the role
The Zhan Lab at Stony Brook University seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to contribute to research on myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), clonal stem cell disorders characterized by hematopoietic stem/progenitor cell expansion, overproduction of mature blood cells, and cardiovascular complications. Research involves molecular and genetic techniques in transgenic murine models, patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells, and primary patient samples. The goal is to understand disease mechanisms and develop more effective therapies for MPNs and other clonal hematologic malignancies.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute experiments, prepare and test specimens.
- Analyze data and present results at scientific meetings.
- Prepare manuscripts and grant applications.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and facilities.
- Perform administrative aspects of the study plan and other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biology, Medicine, or a closely related field by the start of the appointment.
- At least one first-author publication in a highly regarded peer-reviewed journal.
