About the role
The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department (CEE) at the University of California, Davis invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate focusing on the development of a drought early warning system for California under the supervision of Professor Alvar Escriva-Bou.
Responsibilities
- Develop sector-specific drought indices and expected impacts across California
- Co-develop metrics with stakeholders
- Create a decision-support web platform
- Collaborate in other projects related with the socio-economic impacts of water allocation
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering, or related field
- Strong understanding of drought characterization, agricultural and urban systems, and their linkages with water supply systems
- Coding skills (Python)
- Strong communication skills in oral and written English
- Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications
- Water systems modeling
- Web-based dashboards, decision-support tools, online data visualization
- Machine learning approaches
- Water economics and policy
