About the Role
The Education and Labor Cabinet’s mission is to educate, prepare and train Kentucky's current and future workforces. The cabinet is seeking to fill a Postal Technician I position located within the Office of Administrative Services. This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position, paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant. Employees in this role are designated as unclassified (non-merit) but are eligible to receive benefits at the same level as classified (merit) employees in permanent positions.
Responsibilities
- Receives and sorts all incoming mail.
- Picks up and delivers regular and messenger mail to the appropriate internal recipients.
- Assists Cabinet employees with proper mailing and shipping procedures.
- Picks up all outgoing mail from Office Unemployment Insurance (OUI) employees in designated areas.
- Sorts and uses postage equipment for weight, postage, and accounting systems.
- Gathers Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax deposits and other documents and delivers them to the Department of Treasury and Revenue daily.
- Retrieves UI claimant checks, off-cycle payroll checks, and various checks for the accounting branch and delivers as appropriate.
- Performs routine maintenance on postal equipment, including cleaning, oiling, and minor adjustments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds, move mail carts weighing up to 800 pounds, and operate machinery requiring standing, walking, and lifting above head.
- Must safeguard confidential and sensitive information, complete required training, and adhere to all policies and statutes.
- Daily travel required to pick up and deliver mail.

Pay
$2,459.44 - $3,320.24 monthly.
Schedule
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Eligible for overtime pay.
