Postal Technician I

About the Role

The Postal Technician I is a vital part of the Department of Corrections' mission to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and provide a safe, secure, and humane environment for staff and offenders. This role performs complex duties in the mailroom, supporting both staff and inmates.

Responsibilities

• Search and process incoming and outgoing mail for staff and inmates.
• Assist staff and inmates with proper mailing and shipping procedures.
• Maintain and operate postal equipment.
• Maintain and order mailroom supplies.

The ideal candidate will have strong observation and communication skills, be self-motivated, and well-organized.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must maintain any required licensure, certification, or other credentials for the length of employment.

Working Conditions

• Daily travel required to pick up and deliver mail.

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months.

Pay

$31,480.80 annually
