Job Description and Duties
The Disability and Survivor Benefits Division (DSBD) is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our Post-Retirement Survivor Benefits Section as an Office Technician (General).
In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting our mission to provide timely and accurate survivor benefits to CalPERS members and their families. Working under the direction of a Supervisor I, you’ll help manage the daily clerical workflow that keeps our team running efficiently. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to support survivors during critical moments.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Reviewing and routing incoming mail workflow to the appropriate processing queues
- Distributing letters to financial institutions to recover overpayments
- Reviewing reports to identify cases requiring research, review, or further processing
- Scanning and uploading documents received for assignment
Minimum Requirements
- High-volume, production environment experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, or other tools to document, track, and process information
- Data entry experience with keen attention to detail and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to act independently and as part of a team, with open-mindedness, and flexibility
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience researching, verifying, reviewing, or entering information
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines while handling multiple tasks with varying processing time-frames
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, or other tools to document, track, and process information
- Data entry experience with keen attention to detail and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to act independently and as part of a team, with open-mindedness, and flexibility
