Position Summary

We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate to work on problems in the intersection of thermodynamics and mechanics of nanoporous materials. The position is for one year. The start date is negotiable, preferably Fall 2026.

Essential Functions

  • Work on the NSF projects “Elastic Properties of Confined Fluids and their Role for Wave Propagation in Nanoporous Media” and “NSF-DFG Confine: Aqueous Electrolytes in Nanoporous Media: Structure, Dynamics and Electrochmomechanical Actuation” led by Prof. Gennady Gor at NJIT.
  • Develop and utilize molecular modeling tools to predict thermodynamic properties of fluids in confinement.
  • Collaborate with experimentalists to test the predictive capabilities of the models.

Pre-Requisite Qualifications

  • Recent PhD in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field with a research background in molecular simulation or classical density functional theory.
  • A track record of publications in high-quality journals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of adsorption fundamentals.
  • Experience in modeling adsorption in zeolites.
  • Experience with SAFT DFT.
  • Proven ability and interest in interdisciplinary work.
  • Experience in working closely with experimentalists.
