Post Doctoral Research Associate
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Physics, University of Tennessee (UTK). The successful applicant will carry out interdisciplinary materials research touching on correlated electron systems, topological states, frustrated magnetism, spintronics, and superconductivity. Research will focus on ultralow temperature high-field transport measurements to probe exotic collective excitations in interface-engineered materials and devices. The role also provides exposure to advanced synthesis techniques, including single crystal growth and epitaxial deposition. Research will be conducted at the UTK campus and national facilities such as synchrotrons and high magnetic field laboratories.
Responsibilities
- Perform sample synthesis and characterization, including crystal growth and film deposition.
- Conduct transport measurements and synchrotron x-ray diffraction/neutron scattering experiments.
Requirements
- PhD in physics or a related field (must be completed by 08/01/2026).
- Experience with transport measurements and knowledge of correlated electron systems or magnetic materials.
- Prior experience with techniques such as crystal growth, film deposition, or synchrotron/neutron scattering is desired.
- Proficiency in programming software (e.g., Labview, MATLAB) is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong self-motivation and ability to work collaboratively in a research environment.
