About the Role

As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will engage in laboratory, translational, or clinical research under the direct guidance of a faculty member. The position is available in the Barrow Neuroimaging Innovation Center at the Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) under the mentorship of Dr. Ashley Stokes. You will contribute to a multidisciplinary research program focused on the development, application, and analysis of advanced MRI techniques to investigate neuropathological changes in Parkinson’s disease across both clinical and preclinical models.

Daily responsibilities include conducting experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to scientific discourse and publications. Key methodologies involve advanced diffusion and functional MRI for assessing brain connectivity and network integrity. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong scientific curiosity, a rigorous research approach, a commitment to learning, and ambition for leadership in the field.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic, collaborative team within an internationally recognized clinical research environment, developing skills essential for success as an independent investigator and demonstrating potential to launch an extramurally-funded research program.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory, translational, or clinical research under faculty mentorship.
  • Develop and apply advanced MRI techniques to study neuropathological changes in Parkinson’s disease.
  • Analyze data using advanced diffusion and functional MRI methodologies.
  • Contribute to scientific publications and discourse.
  • Demonstrate growth technically and intellectually in a research specialty.
  • Produce quality original research or clinical care under mentor direction.
  • Develop skills necessary for launching an extramurally-funded research program.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., post-baccalaureate M.D., D.Sc., or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., neuroscience, biomedical engineering, physics, or a related discipline).
  • Laboratory or clinical research experience at the post-baccalaureate level.
  • Interest in a faculty member’s line of study.

Qualifications

  • Experience writing research reports concerning own work and familiarity with a biomedical discipline.
  • Prior experience in MRI research and/or neurodegenerative disease models is highly desirable.

Pay

$24.33 - $36.19 per hour.
