About the role
The Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems (IRIS) and the Department of Geology at the University of Georgia are hiring for a 1-year, renewable (for a maximum of 4 total years) postdoctoral research position.
Responsibilities
- Work with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, geologists and other scientists and practitioners to co-develop and implement research on the economic, ecological, and social impacts related to groundwater along the Georgia coastal region.
- Participate in community outreach activities along the Georgia coastal region.
- Support and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
- Co-author journal manuscripts, research reports, factsheets, and other written / video materials.
- Communicate regularly and in a timely fashion with project PIs regarding research and other issues relevant to the operation of the laboratory.
Requirements
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification:
- A PhD in economics, civil, or environmental engineering or related field completed by January 2025.
- Experience in modeling with Visual ModFlow Flex 8 or other ModFlow versions.
- Expertise in geospatial methods, data analysis and visualization.
- Experience working on interdisciplinary teams.
- Expertise in coupled human-environment systems; record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals; and experience communicating to diverse audiences.
