About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of OBYGN seeks a full-time Post Doctoral Associate to work in Miami, FL. The role involves performing scientific research and studies under supervision, promoting institutional recognition through contributions to the scientific community, and conducting various types of research and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
  • Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
  • Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide range of scientific principles and theories.
  • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
  • Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in relevant field, or PhD in molecular genetics, genomics, or cell biology preferred.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Skills in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Department Specific Functions

  • Perform complex laboratory assignments, including planning and conducting projects related to cell culture and molecular biology.
  • Schedule and perform experiments in research laboratory.
  • Solve problems in scientific and technical execution, interpret experimental data, and maintain accurate records.
  • May need to develop, adapt, and implement new lab procedures.
  • Perform complex and routine molecular biology procedures including flow cytometric analysis, PCR, RT-PCR, Q-PCR, Western blotting, DNA/RNA extraction, recombinant protein and isolation and purification, transfection, and aptamer isolation, conduct multi-omics (scRNA/ATAC/scDNA-seq) projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of data and figures for manuscripts and for scientific presentations using Power Point, R/Python and other graphics software as needed.
  • Search literature for references to technical problems and keep informed by reading technical journals and publications.
  • Present data in laboratory meetings and other venues.
  • Collaborate with Scientists and clinicians in international low-resource settings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in relevant field, or PhD in molecular genetics, genomics, or cell biology.
