Position Overview
The Center for Urban Science + Progress (CUSP) at New York University, Tandon School of Engineering, Brooklyn, NY, seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to develop and implement protocols for addressing community concerns about trust and transparency in smart cities, with a focus on a new smart city project in Vietnam.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain networks of local collaborators in Ho Chi Minh City (researchers, practitioners, community organizations, municipal officials)
- Develop and implement collaborative workshops and focus groups to address site-specific concerns
- Collaborate with faculty and external partners, including travel to Ho Chi Minh City
- Perform other research-related tasks as needed
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Urban Planning, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Information Science, Urban Science, or related field
- Science background in digital civics and public interest technology research, particularly in smart city technologies and open data platforms
- Experience designing, conducting, and analyzing participatory workshops or co-design activities
- Experience with community and civic engagement and working with local governments or community-based organizations
- Strong publication record
- Eligibility to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cross-cultural collaborations, working across languages and geographies
- Project management experience for multi-stakeholder research or policy projects
- Vietnamese language skills (helpful but not required)
