About the role
The Singson laboratory at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology is seeking a postdoctoral associate to participate in our studies of reproductive biology in the C. elegans model system. Specifically, the candidate will contribute to our fertilization synapse, sperm activation, and sperm mitochondria dynamics projects.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to our fertilization synapse, sperm activation, and sperm mitochondria dynamics projects.
- Design and carry out experiments with the C. elegans model system as well as other experimental systems in the lab such as yeast two hybrid protein-protein interaction methods.
- Work unsupervised day-to-day, but in consultation with the primary investigator for long term goals of the research.
- Professionally communicate and justify experimental approaches and results in both oral and written form.
- Correspond manuscripts for publication.
Requirements
- Experience with C. elegans genetics, reproduction, cell biology.
- Experience with protein-protein interaction methods like the split ubiquitin yeast-two hybrid method and SIM microscopy training.
Qualifications
- Ability to work unsupervised day-to-day, but in consultation with the primary investigator for long term goals of the research.
- Professional communication and justification of experimental approaches and results in both oral and written form.
Skills
- Skills and experience in forward and reverse genetics as well as protein-protein interaction studies.
