Post Doctoral Associate in Multi-Omics

Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) – Department of Epidemiology, College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) and College of Medicine.

About the Role

The Department of Epidemiology is strategically situated within the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) and the College of Medicine, fostering synergies and collective strength in research and training. Faculty and students have received numerous national awards in research and mentoring, and the department offers PhD, Master of Science, and MPH programs, including two NIH Training grants (T32).

Dr. Jinling Liu’s laboratory at the University of Florida’s Department of Epidemiology and the Center for Genetic Epidemiology and Bioinformatics (GeneBio) is accepting applications for 1-2 fully-funded postdoctoral associate positions. Dr. Liu’s research focuses on modeling big data (e.g., multi-omics) in biology and medicine for precision medicine using statistical and machine learning techniques, supported by an NIH Career Development Award. The lab collaborates across domains for data analytics and decision-making and has access to high-dimensional multi-omics data, including WGS, WES, DNA methylation, RNA-seq, proteomics, lipidomics, and metabolomics in large-scale human populations.

The lab aims to integrate and mine these data to understand genomic causes, biomarkers, and underlying signaling networks for diseases such as aging, cardiovascular diseases, brain diseases, and cancer through novel statistical or deep learning methods. Postdoctoral associates will engage with rich multi-omics data, advanced methods, and collaborations with experts across fields.

Responsibilities

• Multi-omics data analysis and integration.
• Development and application of novel statistical and machine learning methods.
• Manuscript writing and research presentation at conferences.
• Assistance with grant applications and student mentoring.

Requirements

• PhD degree in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, biomedical informatics, or related fields OR a PhD degree in biology or related fields.

Qualifications

• Strong background in programming (e.g., Python, R, or C++).
• Research experience utilizing programming, statistics, and AI.
• Demonstrated independent and critical thinking abilities.
• Good communication skills.
• Prior research experience in analyzing biomedical data is preferred.

Pay

$63,480 annually, commensurate with experience and in accordance with current NIH postdoctoral salary guidelines.
