Positive Support Specialist-$2500 Hiring Bonus

Job Summary

Possessors of Positive Support Specialist (PSS) positions work in our Intensive Community Residential Services (ICRS) programs. These specialized programs cater to individuals with complex needs, utilizing a person-centered approach to help them achieve their goals while ensuring safety.

• Assist individuals in performing essential life skills such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and navigating the community.
• Advocate for individuals in areas like rights, medical care, and community participation.
• Complete necessary documentation and record-keeping during each shift.
• Manage crisis situations safely and effectively, including the potential use of manual restraints.
• Receive training for Positive Behavioral Supports and manual restraints in conjunction with the 245D requirements.
• Engage in trauma-informed care daily.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of individuals.
• The ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, squat, bend, or walk for long periods of time.
• Knowledge of local community resources is a plus.
• Cleared by a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study and hold a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• A minimum education of a high school diploma, with a degree in a relevant field preferred.
• A minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with people with complex needs, with 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.

Hiring Bonus

To be eligible for a hiring bonus, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Work at least 40% FTE.
• Stay current on all trainings.
• Maintain employment in good standing.
• Work all scheduled shifts.
