About the role
The Portfolio Manager plays a key role in assessing and managing the bank’s loan portfolio by providing analytical, credit oversight, and risk management. They oversee annual reviews, loan renewals, covenant compliance, and financial collections. Collaborating with Relationship Managers, they aim to grow a high-quality, profitable portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Leading analysis, underwriting, origination, and management of loans in a growing commercial and corporate portfolio.
- Applying loan structuring, risk identification, and risk mitigation skills.
- Understanding and applying the bank’s risk grading methodology and credit appetite.
- Managing complex relationships with C&I and CRE borrowers.
- Partnering to develop lending proposals, cross-sell opportunities, and understanding client needs.
- Overseeing due diligence and documentation post-approval.
- Maintaining a portfolio with high-value clients, ensuring credit quality and servicing.
- Mentoring junior team members and providing feedback for skill development.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3-5 years of commercial underwriting and portfolio management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Strong financial analysis, legal document interpretation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service abilities.
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel skills.
