Portfolio Manager II

About the role

The Portfolio Manager assists in the assessment of risk and management of the Bank’s loan portfolio by providing analytical and credit oversight. Responsibilities include the annual review, renewal, loan covenant compliance reviews, and financial collection process within the assigned loan portfolio. Partners with Relationship Managers to grow and develop a high-quality and profitable loan portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Lead the analysis, underwriting, origination, and portfolio management of loans in a growing commercial and corporate portfolio.
• Utilize loan structuring, risk identification, and risk mitigation skills.
• Apply the Bank’s risk grading methodology and credit appetite.
• Manage complex relationships and understand both C&I and income-producing real estate (CRE) borrowers.
• Partner with Relationship Managers to call on current or potential clients; identify needs for commercial products and services; develop lending proposals; and identify cross-sell opportunities.
• Oversee post-approval due diligence requirements and commercial loan documentation preparation.
• Build and maintain a portfolio mix of targeted high-value and high-potential clients, ensuring credit quality and portfolio servicing are maintained.
• Partner with junior members of the commercial team to delegate tasks related to the origination and servicing of the loan portfolio.
• Provide feedback and guidance to develop the skills of teammates.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 to 5 years of commercial underwriting and portfolio management experience.
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent in work experience) required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents; perform calculations; research, analyze, and evaluate information to make decisions, solve problems, and achieve goals.
• Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, with senior executives, business unit management, staff, regulators, and business partners.
• Accurate typing, spelling, and grammar skills.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel.
• Strong organizational and customer service skills.
