About the role

The Portfolio Manager supports the Commercial Banking Office at Bank of Marin, a top-rated workplace in the North Bay. This role involves managing the loan application process, conducting credit analysis, underwriting, and loan closing, while also providing quality service to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Commercial Banking Office
  • Partners with Relationship Managers to manage the loan application process
  • Manages the credit analysis, underwriting, documentation, and loan closing process for assigned prospects and clients
  • May perform senior credit analyst responsibilities in support of the Commercial Banking Officer's needs
  • Ensures assigned loan portfolio is risk graded and in compliance with loan agreements/approvals
  • Monitors loan portfolio to identify risks and maintain up-to-date loan files
  • Works with Credit Analysts on loan package preparation and proposals
  • Collaborates with credit administration to properly document loans
  • Closes loans with borrowers when needed
  • Has an understanding of loan types and related requirements, working independently with some assistance
  • Partners with the Regional Manager to provide quality service to clients
  • Gathers information for new loan requests
  • Coordinates with Credit Analysts on loan package preparation and proposals
  • Works with credit administration to properly document loans
  • Closes loans with borrowers when needed
  • Has an understanding of loan types appropriate to this level, and other related requirements

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Working knowledge of accounting, financial accounting, and credit analysis
  • Ability to work with detailed information in an efficient and accurate manner, while meeting established deadlines
  • Proficient typing and computer skills, particularly in using Microsoft Office Tools, and the Bank’s current software system
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Motivated individual with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to work well with customers and co-workers
  • Ability to analyze and resolve issues making sound judgments
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and evaluate detailed and complex loan documents
  • Thorough understanding and familiarity of the bank’s loan policies and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory and legal issues encountered in the completion and closing of complex personal and commercial loans

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related field
  • Minimum 2 - 4 years’ relevant banking experience and/or training

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Knowledge of banking regulations and loan policies

Pay

The hiring pay range for this position is $83,524 to $112,758. In addition to the pay range listed, all bank positions are eligible for incentive compensation, which varies based on role. The pay rate for a successful applicant depends on a variety of factors including but not limited to geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
