Portfolio Management Team Lead

About the role

The Portfolio Management Team Lead is an experienced commercial lending professional responsible for leading a team of Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts. They directly contribute to the management of a commercial loan portfolio through collaboration with Relationship Managers.

Responsibilities

• Lead loan analysis, underwriting, origination, and portfolio management activities.
• Utilize risk assessment and mitigation skills, applying credit policies and risk grading methodologies.
• Manage relationships with C&I and real estate borrowers, identifying client needs and developing lending proposals.
• Oversee post-approval due diligence and documentation, ensuring portfolio quality and compliance.
• Lead talent acquisition, onboarding, and performance management of team members.
• Develop staff through training, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Monitor portfolio metrics, lead portfolio meetings, and ensure workflow efficiency.
• Coordinate team efforts, delegate tasks, and foster credit analyst development.

Qualifications & Skills

• 6-8 years of commercial underwriting and portfolio management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Strong financial analysis, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to engage with senior management, clients, and regulators.
• Organizational skills and customer service orientation.
