About the role

The Portfolio Management Team Lead is an experienced professional responsible for managing a commercial lending portfolio and leading a team of Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis, underwriting, origination, and portfolio oversight of commercial loans.
• Utilize risk assessment and mitigation skills, applying the bank’s risk grading and credit policies.
• Manage complex borrower relationships, partnering with Relationship Managers to identify client needs and develop lending proposals.
• Oversee post-approval due diligence and loan documentation, ensuring credit quality and portfolio performance.
• Direct talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, and skill development for team members.
• Lead portfolio management meetings and monitor workflow and capacity to meet standards.
• Foster collaboration between Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts, delegating tasks to promote growth.

Qualifications and Skills

• 6 to 8 years of commercial underwriting and portfolio management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret financial reports and legal documents.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with senior management, clients, and regulators.
• Organizational, leadership, and customer service skills.
