Porter - Custodian (PER DIEM)

About the Role

Project Housekeeper positions available for Day Shift and Evening Shift with weekend availability required. Must have floor care experience and be familiar with the operation of floor care machines.

Responsibilities

• Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, including quality assessment, improvement programs, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Works from a schedule outlining frequency and timing of tasks.
• Leads and works with the cleaning crew on assigned projects.
• Performs duties of a housekeeper when not assigned project work.
• Empties trash, biomedical waste, and recyclables, and transports them to the central collection site.
• Transports waste from site to compactor/recycling dock and operates the compactor.
• Packages biomedical waste.
• Strips and refinishes floors, extracts carpets.
• Dry mops and wet mops floors.
• Washes walls and windows.
• Hangs and removes draperies and cubicle curtains.
• Washes, repairs beds, wheelchairs, geri chairs, and other patient equipment or furnishings.
• Moves, removes, and relocates furniture, furnishings, and equipment as directed.
• Sets up for meetings, activities, and special programs.
• Performs isolation and terminal cleaning following prescribed procedures.
• Communicates effectively and tactfully with residents/patients, recognizing their age, needs, abilities, and physical condition.
• Attends department and Masonicare Health Center (MHC) meetings and in-service programs.
• Understands and follows universal precautions as they pertain to the department.
• Performs all duties in a manner demonstrating safety, respect, care, and concern for residents/patients/clients and staff.
• Reports to clinical staff any concerns that might warrant attention on behalf of the resident.
• Maintains a healthy, clean, and safe environment for the population of MHC.
• Operates vacuum cleaners and some mechanical floor/carpet machinery.
• Removes and hangs window draperies and cubicle curtains.
• Washes window draperies and cubicle curtains, walls, vents, etc.
• Assists other MHC departments as needed.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must have floor care experience and be familiar with the operation of floor care machines.
• On-the-job training provided.

Per Diem position.
