About the role
As a Portable Load Limit Inspector, you will set up and operate portable or stationary platform scales at selected rotating sites and weigh stations to check the weight of commercial vehicles and ensure compliance with state weight limits.
Responsibilities
- Weigh and inspect self-propelled construction equipment, commercial vehicles, and loads relative to legal limitations and special hauling permit limitations using a height stick and portable or stationary scales.
- Utilize a state-owned portable scale vehicle to transport scales.
- Answer inquiries from the general public regarding information and directions.
- May appear in court as a witness relative to overload citations.
Requirements
- Formal education that includes reading, writing, and speaking English, and arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment.
- Valid Driver’s license.

Schedule
Full-time. Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; working days and hours may vary.
